Just like the Proust Questionnaire in Vanity Fair and other famous interviews…..Rock Hall Wave presents a set of questions to RockAHallics!
Rock Hall’s Mrs. Santa Claus (Rosalie Brady Kuechler) has been busy performing her duties this Christmas season. Having arrived in Rock Hall by boat the first weekend of December, she has found the job getting much larger as more families and children need help this year. In addition to spreading good cheer, getting pictures taken, giving out presents, oranges and candy canes, Mrs. Santa has been helping to collect toys for needy Kent County children and raising awareness of the need for help for both children and adults in Rock Hall. Mrs. Santa took a small break for this interview with Rock Hall Wave before she heads out with the Rock Hall Garden Club to judge Rock Hall homes and businesses this evening.

What is your favorite season in Rock Hall?
I love them all and have visited at all times of the year. But I especially like winter and the first weekend in December when Santa and I come into Rock Hall Harbor by boat. Rock Hall looks so beautiful as we approach, and it is so exciting to see all the children and families on the bulkhead. You know everyone is so excited and their faces are just so precious. Santa and I love to talk to all of them, and it is amazing how far they come from….each year it gets bigger and better. Why, they come from the Western Shore, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania….sometimes even farther.
What is your vision for Rock Hall?
For everybody to be happy, to get along well together, for the town of Rock Hall to prosper and for all the businesses to be successful. Santa and I realize how hard it is, and we know how much everyone tries to work together in Rock Hall. We are also very concerned about the Chesapeake Bay and the watermen. We are amazed at the work done together and all the help in the forms of giving out food, clothing and toys. We love they way that everyone takes care of each other in Rock Hall. Just like Santa, the elves, the reindeer and I do.

Not one thing ….. I love it here! Not one thing at all, I love it the way it is! OH MY! What a special place.

About Rosalie “Miss Rosie” Brady Kuechler in her own words:
I was born in Piney Neck and moved to Rock Hall proper when I was three years old. I have lived in Rock Hall all my life. My father, Medford “Muffy” Brady, was a commercial watermen and worked with his two brothers, Charlie and Buck, and his grandfather, Edward. I am an active volunteer and event organizer. I have served on Rock Hall’s Town Council and also have served as Rock Hall’s Mayor twice. I was first elected to the council in 1977.
I enjoy walking with my friends, parties and gatherings with friends and riding in our T-Bird with my husband, Eddie. We are very active in show car events and gatherings.
I married my high school sweetheart and we have two sons, their wives, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. I have been Mrs. Santa for many years, so many that I can’t remember when I first began. I started when Mr. Jim Thompson was Santa for Rock Hall Seniors, I think that may have been in the 1980′s!

Rosalie you are a true Rock Hall Treasure, the acutal “Pearl of the Chesapeake”. Thank you for all that you do for our community.
Four thumbs WAY up to that Bernie! We love you Ms. Rosalie and wish you the best in the new year and beyond.
