The family of Miller’s Store needs your help. The safe from the store has been taken from a family residence at 5246 Eastern Neck Road. This is a family and Rock Hall treasure, and this loss is very painful. Please provide tips and information here. Family members will provide information and communicate with you here. The family was planning on donating the safe to Rock Hall Museum. The family will ask no questions if the safe is brought back now.
Miller’s Store was in business in Rock Hall for 50 years from 1900-1950 and was located where the old Lion’s Club Den is.

Probably not a bad idea to alert the closest metal scrap for cash yards to be on the lookout.
When was the safe stolen?
This is really making me sad. I fear the safe is at the scrap yard. My family moved here because of the “Mayberry” like nature of this wonderful town. We really are going to have to weed this element out from among us.
This sounds like someone who may have once been trusted and knew about the safe. Many times the culprit is within the circle and not outside the box. If that is all that was stolen, sounds like someone knew more than they should have and took advantage of that trust. :/
I cannot wrap my head around this… we know that there is a problem with this type of crime in our town, and yes, I am a new resident, however, doesn’t it seem obvious to put up some preventive measures… like CAMERAS! There are security systems on the market now, that are very affordable for any family, not to mention for business’. That’s just one thing that we can do to rid this town of these low life scum. I apologize for my choice of words, believe me, they’re not nearly as bad as I’d like to say!
That said, why am I not hearing about any of this within the town itself? If I didn’t subscribe to this blog, and if Mayor Willis wasn’t on my contact list, I would have no idea about any of this! There has to be another venue that will alert the rest of the town. Good guess that 90% of the population of Rock Hall, does NOT have internet connection, let alone a computer. Just a thought.
This really seems trivial to me, maybe it’s because I grew up in big cities, but this is a problem that would have been resolved, quite quickly, where I am from with simple and affordable methods of preventive measures.
Then again, what do I know?
Up date on my safe….we had a call that a small truck with a trailer had the safe on it going out of town the day before yesterday. The caller could not remember any other details but it caught his eye seeing such a large safe on a small trailer. It looks like junk as it was rusted etc and can be seen on facebook. it is not of any value besides of what little metal is around the concrete. Mr Ferreira the safe was located on a concrete pad at the vacant lot we own next to our old house on 5246 Eastern Neck Rd. There is nothing in the safe. We have been saving to move the safe, in fact my husband talked to a guy last week to have it moved this week. Our intentions were to donate it to the Rock Hall Museum as stated once they find there new home. We have adt security and cameras here at our new house and at our previous address however, not on our vacant lot obviously,. We do assume it was someone who knows the safe and probably rides by it every day. Or perhaps whoever did this thought it was abandoned never-the-less they should not have removed it. I have been calling junk yards etc. Only the safe along with a picnic table only remained on the lot however it could have been easily mistaken to be apart of the vacant house next door.. I did however have signs on it saying private property and do not remove. We are reporting it today to the police but we were giving it a small amount of time in hopes they would bring it back. As soon as I found out I posted it on FB knowing that a majority of people are on it especially those who live close to the property. As a matter of fact I just received a call from someone not on fb who spoke to a girl who mentioned it to him. In some cases like this we are fortunate to live in a small town bc words travel quick, lol. I would like to think tho that this was someone who thought it was abandon rather than stealing it from the property. If it has been sold for scrap metal I hope someday who ever did this finds out that the little money they received cost our family great heartache.
Hey Sara, I hope that the lead you generated brings you better news soon. I guess the intent of my comment was more general than targeted at your situation. I’ve been following, to some degree, the stories of thefts throughout the town, and think (generally speaking) that the town should ramp up it’s security. I read somewhere that the town does have cameras, or had cameras but are not active, and this is the kind of thing that is irritating. I LOVE Rock Hall and it’s small town feel and want to help in keeping it, relatively free of crime. Especially this type of BS crime. I too, hope that your safe was mistaken for being abandoned, but I honestly doubt that is the case. Coming from big cities, I know how horrible people can be, and hope that it doesn’t get as bad as city living.
As far as posting to FB, it’s a great idea. For me, however, while I do repost many of these stories, is really ineffective because most of my friends live across the globe. The few people I “know” on FB that live in Rock Hall (or Maryland for that matter), I don’t know that well in person, or at all.
I know that our local police do a good job, but I just don’t think that it’s good enough. I believe that they really need to refocus their efforts in trying to find these people, and worrying less about traffic violations. (I know I will catch a bit of flak for that last comment, but again, city mind set and think that is needed here) I’m not saying that our police need to start kicking doors in, but I do think they need to make their presence better known. Instead of sitting in their trucks all day, they should be putting Boots to Pavement! The police are more effective at their jobs, if they are among the people, not watching them. Anyway, I could go on all night about that topic itself, but I’ll spare you all!
Ok, simply put, I truly hope that your safe is found Sara and hope that it really is just a misunderstanding. I also hope that our town Rock Fish – “Pearl” is found soon. My experience tells me, however, that Rock Hall will never see her again. I look forward to seeing your safe returned soon. Have a wonderful weekend Sara… and all!
No worries Robert and thank you…Unfortunately we have found what happened to the safe. Some called my husband this morning from fb with info on someone who was trying to get a safe unlocked. It was taken to bennet and coheys and they destroyed the safe…they told us numerous of times they have not seen a safe, hmmm…As of now I don’t want to reveal to much of the info. But I will say this DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING from anyones property with out the property owners permission even if a guy up the road shows it to u and tells u u can!!!
