Two-Alarm Church Fire in Chestertown

02/21/12 0621 hrs Kent dispatched Station 7 (Rock Hall) on the Second
Alarm to a working fire in a church in the area of Philosopher’s
Terrace and North Kent Street, Chestertown. Chestertown Police
Department went on location with a heavy smoke and fire showing.
Command 6 arrived within 5 minutes confirming the status and
immediately requested the second alarm. Engine 68 arrived, performing
fire attack. Rock Hall’s Engine 72 and Truck 7 performed ventilation
in addition to Tower 6, Queen Anne’s Tower-Ladder 5 and Quint 6 on
other sides of the structure. Rock Hall’s Ambulance 7 was alerted as
an additional ambulance to the scene but was transferred to Station 8,
Kent and Queen Anne’s Rescue Squad, ALS staffed to cover the
jurisdiction. Chief 6 (B. Neal) had incident command. Many thanks to
the crew from New Castle, DE Engine 27-5 (Middletown) for staffing the
station. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland
State Fire Marshal’s Office.
